About Empower
Our Intention.
Empower Therapy, LLC is a small pediatric private practice offering speech, language and feeding services in Chittenden county, Vermont. Our central mission is reflected in our title: empower. Our primary purpose is to enhance the ways in which our younger generations engage with our world within the realm of communication and feeding skills. Every child’s treatment is individualized to their needs, emboldening them with new tools, as well as building upon their existing skill set to ensure they leave therapy thriving in their own unique way.
Our mission is reflected with great intention in our logo, representing the following:
Growth: the young tree symbolizes the expansion of skills and opportunities that are afforded to clients by participating in therapy at Empower Therapy
Access: the tree branches in a hand-shaped manner represent the increased access to the major areas of speech, language and feeding that Empower Therapy offers
Scope of Practice: each of the tree’s leaves represents the targeted areas and treatment approaches utilized at Empower Therapy, as described below
Empower Therapy provides targeted treatment to children with speech and language disorders. These could be described as speech and/or language delays, speech sound production disorders, expressive language delays, etc.
Treatment at Empower Therapy targeting cognition and neurological functioning includes neurodevelopmental disorders or cognitive impairments as a result of traumatic brain injury.
We provide functional techniques to manage disorders of fluency (stuttering) and voice (e.g., the education of proper vocal hygiene practices).
Feeding disorders are one of the most prominent areas of specialty at Empower Therapy. The nature of intervention is inspired by the SOS Approach to Feeding, which has a significant focus on food exploration and exposure.
We appreciate the opportunity to support folks across the neurodiversity spectrum, offering strategies to highlight each individual’s strengths and providing supports where requested.
Regardless of why a child is being seen for therapy, kindness is at the center of everything we do, and it’s how we help our clients navigate connecting with their wider world.
Speech, language and feeding therapy can be hard work, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun! JOY is at the heart of what we do.
